Project 2

Project 2 was making t-shirts for a NGO run school, Vipla Foundation in New Delhi. We made 200 t-shirts for 75 children ranging in different sizes. The school is essentially for the marginalised and vulnerable children in the age group of 7-14 years, which aims to support school education and effectively minimize student attrition. The children and staff were overjoyed on receiving the t-shirts and feeling a sense of oneness and unity during their outdoor trips.

Also in the process of making the garment, we were able to teach a few women on operating the sewing machine in order for them to earn a livelihood in future.

Lessons Learnt

This project helped me practically understand the factors of production we had been exposed to in the classroom. I realised that resources such as capital and labour are limited and have to be effectively utilised as most of the fabrics I had earlier sourced had been used up in my earlier project.
